Dear Friends:

 

I feel very fortunate, because for the last five years, I have had the honor to represent the citizens of Gresham on the Gresham City Council, elected by them twice.  My over arching goal when joining the Council was to help make Gresham “the” city where businesses want to locate and people want to live.  While there is a lot more to be done, I am pleased with the Council accomplishments and am proud that I have contributed to the changes that have occurred.

 

During the last five years as a City Councilor I have had the opportunity work with the Metro Council regional government often representing the City of Gresham at Metro Council advisory meetings.  The Metro Council works with local leaders and citizens in the region to create vibrant, healthy and sustainable communities. I value the role this government plays in the Portland area, because I, as does the Metro Council, want:

 

  • Livable communities, now and for the future
  • Farmland, open spaces and wildlife habitat protected
  • A robust economy that supports family wage jobs, and a
  • Road system that is safe, efficient and allows businesses to get their goods to market in a timely way


Because of these values I am running for the Metro Council, District 1.  The district includes some or all, of Gresham, Troutdale, Fairview, Wood Village, Maywood Park, Damascus, Happy Valley and east Portland.  The election is in May, 2010, and if no one candidate gets more than 50% of the vote, the top two candidates continue campaigning through November 2010.  It could be a long campaign.

 

Therefore, I am asking for your support and help.
